Countdown to Kickoff – Navarre Raiders – 43 Days

The Raiders (12-1) went on their furthest road trip in school history to face off with the Yellow Jackets for the Class 6A Region 1 title. After a scoreless first quarter, Navarre went to the half up by seven. The Raiders added a touchdown in the third and another in the fourth to secure a 18-point win and their second Region 1 title.

Caine Adamson went 9-15 for a modest 55 yards; but the Raiders didn’t require his arm on this night as Michael Carter went over 200 yards rushing for the fourth straight game as he gained 244 yards on 30 carries and four touchdowns. Over the last four games, Michael has rushed for 1,043 yards on 105 carries (9.9 yards per carry) and 15 rushing touchdowns.

The defense put the clamps down on the St Augustine offense and held them to a season low 10 points. Navarre forced three turnovers on the night; with the biggest take away of the night coming in the third quarter. With the Raiders up 14-7, Caleb Dale stepped in front of a Cole Northrup pass; this set up Navarre with a short field and eventually a 21-7 lead.

Josh Carter led the way on defense once against with 9 tackles (4 solo/5 assists/4 TFL) and Bo Hering, Xavier Fernandez and Charlie Alevras all pitched in 7 tackles each. Dante Wright went 4-4 on extra points.

The Raiders (11-1) 2015 season ended at the hands of the Aggies; but Navarre was not going to have their year ended by Tate two years in a row. Both offenses were rolling in the first half, with the Raiders leading 25-21 going to the break. Navarre would outscore Tate in the second half, 35-7, to secure a trip to the Class 6A Region 1 Finals and a trip to St Augustine.

Michael Carter outdid his performance against American Heritage-Delray Beach by two yards (21 carries, 333 yards, 4 TDs) to set a new record for rushing yards in a game. Michael added a fifth touchdown on a 99-yard kickoff return. This was his third straight game over 200 yards.

He had a lot of help on this night as Caine Adamson went 5-8 with 102 yards passing and a TD. Dante Wright pitched in four carries for 96 yards and a score, as well as hauling in a 70-yard touchdown reception from Adamson. Navarre finished with 489 yards rushing on 40 carries and 591 total yards of offense.

Joshua Carter led the Raider defense with 13 tackles (9 solo/4 assists/3 TFL/sack/2 blocked FGs) and Bo Hering added 10 tackles (7 solo/3 assists). Wright was 4-5 on extra points and Saturn Wagner was 2-2.

Navarre Alum Drafted in 10th Round of MLB Draft

2016 Navarre Alum and current South Alabama Jaguar OF Michael Sandle was selected by the Houston Astros in the 10th Round with the 298th overall pick on Monday in the MLB Draft.

Michael becomes the second Navarre Raider Alum to get drafted in the MLB in the last three years ; the other was LHP Matt Cronin in the fourth round of 2019 Draft, by the Washington Nationals.

In their first encounter with the Gators, Michael Carter was held to 118 yards on 28 carries. That would not be the case in this one as Carter went for 244 yards on 28 carries and four touchdowns. This was the second straight week that he rushed for over 200 yards. Caine Adamson went 6-12 for 79 yards and two touchdowns. Dante Wright finished the night with three receptions for 54 yards and two scores.

Navarre (10-1) jumped out to 21-7 lead at the half; but Escambia came fighting back and trailed 34-28 going into the fourth quarter. The Raiders defense stepped up big time in the waning moments of the game and had a huge 4th down stop to send Navarre into the second round of the State Playoffs.

Aaron Mitchell led the Raiders defense with 12 tackles (9 solo/3 assists/TFL) and Caleb Dale added 10 (4 solo/6 assists). Xavier Fernandez contributed four tackles for loss. Wright went 4-5 on extra points.

The Raiders (9-1, 2-1) fell behind quickly on the road to the Eagles. Navarre trailed by 14 after one and found themselves down at the half, 28-14. The Raider coaching staff made the necessary changes at the half and went on to score 28 straight points in the final two quarters to secure their ninth win of the season.

Navarre would get back Sage Chambers for the final game of the regular season. Chambers completed five of eight passes for 105 yards. He shared duties with Caine Adamson, who went 6-12 for 142 yards and three touchdowns. Dante Wright hauled in two receptions for 129 yards; Michael Carter had three receptions for 65 yards and a score and Jordan Williams and Josh Carter had the other two touchdown receptions. Michael had a bigger night on the ground as he rushed for 223 yards and three touchdowns.

Bo Hering led the charge for the Navarre defense with 11 tackles (4 solo/7 assists/TFL), Aaron Mitchell added 9 (2 solo/7 assists) and Marc Struck contributed four tackles for loss. Josh Carter had 2 1/2 of the Raiders 5 1/2 sacks on the night. Dante Wright went 6-6 on extra points.

The Raiders (8-1, 2-1) fell to the Dolphins for the first time in 10 games and finished as the District Runner-up. Instead of going for the tie to send it to overtime, Navarre went for it on fourth down and came up short.

Michael Carter was held to 85 yards on 18 carries and a TD; but this game was decided by the QBs. Even though Caine Adamson had one of his best nights throwing the ball as he went 20-30 for 220 yards and two TDs, it was not enough as Gulf Breeze’s Tyler Phelps, went 23-38 for 327 yards and three TDs.

Dante Wright hauled in three receptions for 84 yards and a score and Jordan Williams added another score with six receptions for 65 yards. Carter had seven receptions.

Tristan Covell had 10 receptions for 141 yards and Cole Sheppard nine receptions for 126 yards and three TDs to lead the Dolphins.

Aaron Mitchell led the Raider defense with 10 tackles (3 solo/7 assists/sack) and Bo Hering added 8 (4 solo/4 assists/3 TFL/sack). Wright went 4-4 on extra points.

Michael Carter broke his older brother Dwayne’s single game rushing mark with 331 yards on 18 carries (18.4 per carry). He also tied the school record for rushing TDs in a game with six and broke the total TDs in game (7) with a 91-yard KO return for a score. Michael totaled 179 yards on four kickoff returns and amassed 510 all-purpose yards.

After giving up 26 points in the first half, the defense stiffened up and shut out American Heritage in the second half. The Raiders (5-0, 1-0) went on the road for their first District game of the season. Dual threat QB Caine Adamson had his best game as he went 11-16 for 106 yards and a TD and was Navarre’s rushing leader with 137 yards on 13 carries with another TD. Michael Carter added 93 yards on 16 carries and a TD.

The Raiders pulled out all the tricks out of the bag as Carter and Dante Wright also threw TD passes on the night. Carter’s was a 63-yard pass to Jordan Williams and Wright found Williams again for 53 yards. Williams ended up with 137 yards receiving on 6 receptions and 2 TDs.

Anthony Johnson, Jr., led the ground attack for the Patriots with 33 carries for 163 yards and 4 TDs and Cameron Rohling added 108 yards on 5 receptions..
