The Raiders (4-4, 1-3) still looking for their first win against a team from Tallahassee since 2006 (beat Florida High, 17-6), couldn’t stop the running game of Chase Gillespie (24 carries, 182 yards) and Garrett Greene (21 carries, 178 yards) as they fell at home in District action.

Chiles’ Gillespie started the scoring at 7:35 when he broke off a 50-yard run. Marlon Courtney III connected on a 30-yard pass to Jaden Rivera to tie the score up at 7-7 at 5:36. With 37.3 seconds left in the quarter, Gillespie added his second score of the night from 23 yards out…Chiles up 14-7.

On the Raiders first possession of the second quarter, Preston Penton would draw Navarre within four with a 29-yard field goal at 10:17. Then, Courtney would give the Raiders their only lead of the night as he scampered in from 14 at 6:33. But West Virginia commit, Garrett Greene would score his first of three touchdowns on the night at 4:07, this one on a 52-yard run. 21-17 Timberwolves at the half.

Greene put Chiles up by 11 at 7:50 of the third on a 2-yard run. Navarre would cut it back to four when Bailey Huston answered from 18 yards out at 6:38. Then Greene found Jalen Herring on a 38-yard pass play at 3:20. 35-24 Timberwolves.

Twenty nine seconds into the fourth the Raiders were back within four, as Rivera scored his second touchdown on the night. But that’s where scoring would end for Navarre as Chiles put the game away with a Greene one yard plunge and a 100-yard interception return by Herring.

Courtney went 15-25 for 192 yards and a score and two interceptions. Rivera had his breakout night, finishing with 170 yards on 20 carries and a touchdown. Tyler England led the receiving core with eight receptions for 73 yards.

England also led the defense with 12 tackles (8 solo/4 assists) and Huston and Sebastian Melendez added 8 tackles each (5 solo/3 assists). Penton finished 4-4 on extra points and made his only field goal attempt.
