Navarre Raider History – 2008

2008 Navarre Raiders
Coach Chad Lashley
The Raiders welcomed new Head Coach Chad Lashley to the sidelines in 2008 as he took over for Larry Olson. Coach Lashley inherited a young team with only 16 seniors.

Navarre started out the season with two wins (West Florida Tech & Milton) in their first four games, but then went on to lose five straight before ending the season with a victory over Gulf Breeze.

The Raiders finished the season at 3-7 overall and 0-3 in District play as they were outscored 271-141.

Coach Larry Olson
Coming off their best season in 2006, the Raiders were looking to build on that success in 2007. This year would turn out to be Coach Larry Olson’s last season at the helm.

For the first time in school history, Navarre won their first four games of the season and five of their first six to open 5-1. The lone loss was a 6-3 setback to Fort Walton Beach.

The Raiders would split their last four games, with two wins over Crestview and Gulf Breeze and losses to Florida High and Milton to finish the regular season at 7-3.

Navarre went through District play with a 3-1 record, making the State Playoffs for the second straight year. But their season would come to an end at the hands of Pace once again in a 55-13 setback.

Coach Olson turned the Raider program around and finished with a 30-29 record. He brought home Navarre’s first two State Playoff appearances as well as their first two District titles.

Navarre Raider History – 2006

The Raiders finished 2005 with five straight losses, but as they entered the 2006 season, there was a feeling in the air that the Navarre Raider football program was about ready to turn the corner.

Navarre started out with back to back shutout wins over West Florida Tech and University Christian, but fell to 2-2 with losses to Catholic and Milton in Weeks 3 & 4. The Raiders would then reel off five straight wins to move to 7-2, which guaranteed them their second winning season and their first-ever District Title and State Playoff appearance.

The Raiders dropped a close game to Gulf Breeze (24-22) in the season finale to finish the regular season at 7-3 (best regular season win total). Navarre would then host Pace in the first round of the State Playoffs, where they fell 26-7 to end their record setting season.

Coach Olson now stands at 23-25 after five seasons.

Navarre Raider History – 2005

Coach Larry Olson
Jeff VanCamp

Once again, the Raiders got off to a fast start in Coach Olson’s fourth season. Navarre opened up 2005 with three straight wins and won four of their first five games.

After what seemed to be a promising start for the Raiders, the offense began to struggle and over the last five games (while losing all five), they scored less than 10 points four times and averaged just 10 points per game…finished the season at 4-6 overall and 0-3 in District 2-4A play.

Coach Olson now stands at 16-21 overall.

Navarre Raider History – 2004

Coach Larry Olson
Coach Olson led the Raiders to their first winning season in 2003; finishing up at 5-4. In his third year at the helm in 2004, he was looking forward to bigger and better things for the program.

But, Mother Nature got in the way as Hurricane Ivan not only did damage to the Gulf Coast, but also affected the Raiders 10-game schedule; limiting Navarre to only eight games.

The Raiders would win their first two games out of the gate, but struggled to find the win column the rest of the way, losing five of their last six games. Navarre finished the season at 3-5 overall and 1-3 in District play.
